HOW TO GET TO HEAVEN

The message of the Bible is that every person alive today can be 100% sure they are going to heaven. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13).

When you ask people how to get to heaven, there are many different answers:

  • live a good life
  • obey the ten commandments
  • join a church and attend regularly
  • love your fellow man
  • Be baptized and/or confirmed
  • follow the teachings and examples of Christ
  • God is a God of love – everybody goes to heaven

The Bible clearly teaches

that no one can earn their way to heaven. Roman 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Four things about the gift:

  1. What is the gift? Eternal life
  2. Who is the giver? God, the one that created the universe gives the best gift.
  3. What was the price paid for the gift?  Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. Most expensive gift ever.
  4. The most important thing about this gift? It must be received.

Would you place your trust and confidence in him rather than in your own works?

To receive Christ pray a prayer something like this:

Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner and unable to save myself. I believe you are God and were born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for my sins, and rose on the third day. I ask for forgiveness and I receive the free gift of eternal life. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus name, Amen.
